Hydropower, the world’s cleanest and largest source of renewable energy…

And an investment opportunity sourced and managed by a specialised team…
Serimus Hydro

About us

Based in Luxemburg, Serimus Hydro is investing into the development, construction, modernization and operation of small hydropower assets worldwide on behalf of institutional investors. We are a multi-disciplinary team that aims to have a positive environmental and social impact while delivering attractive and steady market-level returns to our investors.

Our team has a complementary set of technical and financial skills, with each team member looking back on a long track record in investment management of sustainable real assets or hydropower engineering. The strength and longevity of our industry networks and our single technology focus allow us to efficiently source off-market deals and to conduct a full commercial and technical due diligence in house, significantly reducing transaction costs. We leverage these abilities for the sole benefit of our investors.

Our Vision
By generating clean baseload energy the small hydropower plants we fund contribute to climate change mitigation, generate fair returns and enable sustainable socio-economic development in our communities.

Targeting financial returns and a contribution to climate change mitigation!

Investors advised by Serimus Hydro finance the development, construction, modernization and operation of small hydropower assets. We apply state-of-the-art ESG guidelines (e.g. EIB, IFC…) in our projects. The team explicitly includes the assessment of environmental and social effects in its due diligence process and pursues meaningful and measurable impact targets for each transaction. All projects proposed for investment need to deliver market-rate financial returns and to contribute to climate change mitigation and poverty alleviation.

Projects conducted in the past by our team include:

Hydro Power Project on River Vltava Serimus Hydro Investment

Hydro Power Project on River Vltava

Czech Republic, refurbishment of the plant in 2011

  • Run-of-river hydro power project.
  • Existing and running hydropower plant, which was erected in 1930.
  • The three existing turbines have been replaced by three new, double regulated Kaplan turbines, together with new generators, a new transformer and a completely new system control (SCADA system). The turbine discharge was increased by 10 %.
  • Due to the turbine exchange it was also necessary to change the turbine outlet channels, which required important civil works.
  • Increase of the power production by approx. 70%: from 4.21 GWh per year to 7.20 GWh per year.
  • Total cost:  3.3 million Euros.
